I am delighted to have joined the team at Long Wittenham as Interim Headteacher and we’ve had an excellent start to the autumn term; new pupils have settled in brilliantly and it already feels like they’re part of the team!
I have been very impressed by the positive attitude to learning and exemplary behaviour of all our pupils. Thank you to everyone for such a wonderfully warm welcome.
I have been working hard with staff and governors to update and review safety arrangements and we are looking forward to welcoming back parent volunteers as soon as possible as we continue to open up school activities in line with government guidance. In the meantime, there is information here on the website about class learning projects and copies of our weekly newsletters for parents.
This term, there have been elections for school councillors and the appointment of other Year 6 leadership roles. The school is now registered for the UNICEF Rights Respecting Schools Award, and I am delighted that we’ll be participating in the Eco-Schools programme this year which means we have an Eco-committee too.
Our next whole school event will be the Christmas Fair on 11th December.
