Message from the Headteacher,

This week Owls class have become authors and have written their own books. They have also planted some sunflower seeds.

Parrots class have been enjoying The Hodgeheg by Dick-King Smith and produced some fantastic descriptive writing. We are delighted to have a new child join us in year two and she has already settled and made lots of friends.

The highlight of Eagles week was a wet walk around the village in which they learnt about the role of villagers in WW1. They looked for clues in the church and at the war memorial.

Penguins have really enjoyed learning about equations in maths and have managed to solve 2 and 3 step substitutions.

Save the date for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event on the 5th June (see attached flyer). We would like as many children as possible to join the children’s parade and will also be looking for volunteers to take part in the maypole dancing.

Prints of the fantastic village art work are available to order from Victoria Furze and a donation of a pound on every sale will be made to the school. They are available in two different sizes: Small £6 (43cm X 10.5com) and Large £9.50 (61cm X 15cm). Samples are available to see in the school office. Further details about ordering will follow next week.

Finally, please remember to sign up for the child-led parents’ evenings. This will be an opportunity to sit with your child and their teacher and look at their work and talk about their learning.

Warm regards, Gillian Fraser
