Newsletter – 12th November
Message from the Headteacher
Thank you to everyone who supported the non-uniform day with donations for the upcoming Christmas Fair. Christmas card packs are in book bags today, so if you would like your child to design a card, please return these by Tuesday 16th November.
Our wreath-layers and readers did us proud at the annual village Remembrance Service on 11th November; all staff and pupils gathered round the War Memorial for this memorable occasion.
It’s Anti-bullying Week next week, and Values Ambassadors, who have recently completed training to be Anti-bullying Ambassadors, have organised a poster competition; so do look out for the email about this (deadline Thursday 18th November). Our key messages are:
- Bullying is BOO: Being mean On purpose Over and over
- STOP bullying Start Telling Other People
- Don’t be a Bystander! Be an Upstander!
As part of the focus week, Values Ambassadors are also carrying out a survey here in school to find out about what makes pupils feel safe. Eco-Committee members have been working hard to promote energy saving in school and at home and the School Council has been planning their Children In Need fundraiser.
Children in all classes have really enjoyed their copies of class texts provided by the PTA and older pupils also benefitted from a donation of dictionaries provided by Didcot Rotary Club.
Although there is definitely a nip in the autumnal air, pupils at the school have continued to enjoy lots of time outdoors, not only during PE lessons and playtimes and at our wonderful Forest School, but also taking learning outside for lessons in art, science and maths.
It has been another happy, busy week here at Long Wittenham!
Warm regards, Gillian Seymour
