Newsletter – 18th February

Message from the Headteacher,

This week Owls class have been making pancakes and writing the recipe for Mr Wolf. Parrots class have been enjoying the ‘The Owl and the Pussy Cat’ poem and have written their own variations of the poem. We heard some in celebration assembly today and they were very creative. Eagles have continued learning about circuits in science and experimenting with different components. Penguin class have explored Mayan food (hot chocolate and tortillas) and they have also written some fantastic recipe poems.

The PTA are planning a morning of gardening/DIY in the playground on Saturday 26th February from 10:30am. The main aim will be to repair the fence at the back of the school which has fallen over and become unsafe. There will also be tidying up of the gardens. We have already had some kind volunteers from the Long Wittenham village community offering to help, but we need more people to come and get the job done. Please email the PTA if you would be available to help. There might even be coffee and cake! – pta@long-wittenham.oxon.sch.uk

We are also looking for a volunteer to support the teaching of French in the school. If you know anyone with language skills who might be able to offer time to support the school, please ask them to get in touch via the school office

I hope you all have a lovely, relaxing half term.

Gillian Fraser
