Message from the Headteacher

In this week’s assemblies, children have been learning more about being a Rights Respecting School by finding out about the ABCDE of Rights

A: Rights are for ALL children
B: Rights are there at BIRTH
C: Rights CANNOT be taken away
D: Rights DO NOT have to be earnt
E: All rights are EQUALLY important

On 20th November, it was World Children’s Day and, to find out about this, children watched a short video produced by UNICEF about how this links with the UNCRC

We also listened to this lovely song, recorded by Glade Primary

The aim of all these activities is to develop pupils’ understanding of their rights and ways that some children do not have access to these.

In other news, members of our Eco-Committee has completed the school audit for the Eco-Schools Award and they are looking forward to choosing which aspects to focus efforts on for the rest of this year. Miss Winterbourne has completed Pediatric First Aid training and teachers attended a workshop led by a Communication and Interaction Specialist about Zones Regulation. We are introducing this as a whole-school approach to support mental health and well-being, and there will be more information in next week’s newsletter.

The PTA has been busy planning and publicising the Christmas Fair on 11th December – do come along and help or visit with family and friends on the day. It looks like it’s going to be a great event!

Warm regards, Gillian Seymour
