Message from the Headteacher,

The children have been hard at work again this week and in Owls class they have been learning about the story of the Gingerbread Man. They made some delicious gingerbread and had fun on the playground retelling the story. Parrots have been reading Funny Bums, Freaky Beaks and really enjoyed making a collage of a food chain in Science. Eagles’ class have been researching the seven summits and working on their use of figurative language in their story writing. Penguins have been working hard on their assessments and have enjoyed researching rivers of the world.

We are currently trying to recruit a new TA to support our EAL children. If you know anyone interested please direct them to our website. In the meantime if anyone has skills and/or time to support our EAL learners please do get in touch. https://longwittenhamschool.uk/jobs/

• Please ensure you child’s clothing is clearly named and that children are following our school uniform policy, including no jewellery. Long hair should be tied back with a plain hairband.
• If we need to close the school due to snow we will inform you via Parentmail. The information will also be shared via the local radio and on our school website.
• We are looking to improve the play equipment available for the children. If you have any equipment your children no longer use at home, donations would be warmly welcomed.
• Reminder- Parents of each class are invited to an informal meeting as a chance to get to know the school community better. These will be on Fridays 9-9:30am. Dates as follows:
  • 4th February Parrots 
  • 11th February- Eagles
  • 18th February- Penguins
