Message from the Headteacher

We have had a wonderful first week back after half term. The highlight was the whole school art project which produced a fantastic collage celebrating Long Wittenham. The children showed fantastic creativity and team work. The children also enjoyed sharing their favourite books on World Book Day.

Owls have started their new topic ‘Roots, Shoots and Muddy Boots.’ They have planted some beans and have been learning to partition numbers up to 30.

Parrots have started to read the Hodgeheg and the children enjoyed making predictions about what might happen next.

Eagles have been learning all about length in maths and have been writing newspaper articles about reaching the top of Everest in English.

Penguins have been learning about the Old English epic poem, Beowulf in English and algebra in maths.

On Tuesday 8th March at 3:30pm Miss Clarke will be hosting a phonics information evening for the parents of reception and year 1. Childcare will be available so please do come along.

Our head girl and boy are organizing a school talent show on Thursday 31st March. Application forms have gone home so if your child wants to take part please could they return their form by Friday 11th March.

Warm regards, Gillian Fraser

The Revd Paul Wignall writes:
As the cost of living rises, with increased heating and food costs, there are more and more people in our local communities facing challenging times. There has been wonderful support from our village for the Didcot Food Bank over the past couple of years, but the crisis isn’t over yet. If you can dig a little deeper again, and donate items of food (tins, packets, long-life products) and toiletries, your help would be greatly appreciated.
Items can be left at the Vicarage front door in High Street – half way down towards the Pendon Museum. We deliver on Tuesday and Friday mornings to the Food Bank in Didcot.
Thank you.

Bags2Schools collection for the PTA is on Tuesday morning. Please have a clear out and bring donations on Monday or Tuesday morning.
