Message from the Headteacher,

Thank you to Penguins Class for a fantastic assembly and sharing the fascinating information they have discovered about our village.

As I am writing this, I am listening to the Choir starting to learn songs for our Christingle. A massive thank you to Mrs Williamson and Mrs Martin for giving up their time to start our choir.

Learning Highlights:

  • Owls Class have begun their new topic ‘Reach for the Stars’ and they have been reading @Peace at Last.’ They will also be learning about different festivals and cultural events and this week they have been learning about Diwali.
  • Parrots Class have had fun making fire engines and creating firework pictures. They also enjoyed testing materials in science.
  • Eagles Class started the week with science experiments to learn about erosion and permeability. In geography and English they have been learning about rivers. In RE they are learning about the importance of light in different festivals and have also been learning about Diwali and enjoyed making Diva lamps.
  • Penguins Class enjoyed walking around Long Wittenham and learning the history of the village and looking at building and considering the past and current uses.

Mrs Williamson and Mrs Sienkiewicz have attended our Didcot partnership writing moderation and have had the opportunity to network with teachers in the partnership.

Thank you to those who attended the PTA meeting about the Christmas Fayre on Saturday. We will be sending information about a non-uniform event to support the fayre in the next few days. Please remember to save the date Saturday 3rd December. Stalls include: Body Shop, Chocoholics and lots of art work. There are some great raffle prizes on offer too, including hampers, days out, OUFC tickets and more. Pre-school will be running the grotto and Rainbows are also getting involved, so it promises to be a fantastic festive community event.

We are a nut free school.

Families please note that we are strictly a nut free school. Please ensure that no nut products are brought into school or included in packed lunches (even on school trips). Please also ensure that no nut products are consumed within the school grounds at any time of day. Thank you.
